God of Winds is a god game for the iPad, developed as a school project. The player plays as the “God of Winds” and is tasked with keeping their followers on the island loyal. By swiping across the screen, the player can create powerful gusts of wind – useful for moving resources around, guiding ships at sea and fighting off invading enemies. By blowing the right resources to building sites laid down by the islanders, the player can build houses, windmills and ports, increasing the loyalty of their followers. Enemies can be fought off by deflecting their projectiles back at the enemy and by sinking their ships with powerful winds. The ultimate goal of the game is to keep the islanders happy and to achieve maximum faith.
Developing on the iPad brought with it a host of technical issues for the programmers. The design team worked closely with the programmers to improve the game’s performance, and while many features had to be cut to finish the game on time, the final product was a functional and fun to play iPad game.
