Engine: Banjo’s Backpack (level modelled in Maya)
A school project in which a team of two designers had to design and create a new level for Banjo Kazooie. The level was built to follow the original level conventions as closely as possible. We researched Banjo Kazooie extensively in order to figure out how the levels in that game were structured, where collectibles and enemies were placed, and what sort of minigames it included.
The finished level was built in Banjo’s Backpack, a modding tool that allows custom levels to be added to the game when played in an emulator. The level closely followed the conventions of the game and was playable in-game. Two minigames were also designed for the level, although these could not be made playable due to limitations in the modding software.
